Trends don't just all of a sudden come out of nowhere. They are a reflection of the mass tendencies society has. Photographers now have more power than ever before to help make the world better as they are armed with smartphones, mirrorless cameras, DSLRs and film cameras to capture the world in all of its beauty. Photographers are able to not only capture what happened in the past, but they are able to capture the present and establish trends with their work. By keeping all of this in mind, look to integrate the following trends and tips if you want to create compelling content in 2020 that will make for stunning photography.
Try To Be Authentic
In today's digital age, you need to stay on top of the latest trends and right now that means engaging in portraits on the streets, capturing real emotions and diversity, and showcasing digital art effects. No matter if you are looking to do a collaboration with a publisher, looking to add some diversity to your portfolio, or if you are looking to sell your own shots, your end-goal should be to create and capture photographs that are capable of telling visual stories.
Raise More Awareness
2020 has been a very challenging year, to say the least. This has only led to an even greater realisation that we as photographers and as a society need to place more of a global spotlight on various issues facing the world. Photographers are able to capture this sense of urgency by putting a spotlight on these issues and raising more awareness on them.
Going With Minimalism
Having images that are clean and simple are not only uninspiring, but they are boring. Instead, the trend this year is to create minimalistic photos that showcase emotion and that happen to tell a story. These images must inspire and create a desire to understand more about what is happening in the photo.
Messing With Orientation
There is a huge trend towards creating content for mobile users in particular. It has become more necessary for brands and photographers alike to invest a lot more in producing vertical photos because an increasing number of people are using their smartphones and other mobile devices to view the content. It also gives you a new way to compose photographs that can bring out the best in yourself as a photographer.
Using Drone Technology
It was only 10 years or so ago where drones were only accessible for some of the most serious photographers. Fast forward to today, a lot more photographers are curious about investing in this technology due to it becoming increasingly accessible and cost effective. Not only that, but lighter materials and more features have made drones more compact and viable for both long and short trips. It can add a lot of diversity to your portfolio having aerial shots to showcase.
By integrating these 5 trends into your photography, they should allow you to make much more of an impact with your photos and help you boost your creativity for stunning photography.
